From laptop: most newer laptops have an HDMI cable connection. Some
laptops have a mini HDMI, some a standard HDMI connection. Run the
appropriate cable to your TV and choose the right input on your TV
remote. You should be able to run the streaming from your laptop to your
TV.
If your TV is Apple Airplay or Chomecast compatible, you can install the
appropriate app onto your smart device as per the instructions below.
Most newer Sony Samsung, LG and Vizeo smart TV's have Apple Airplay
built in. Most newer Vizeo, Sharp, Sony, Phillips, Toshiba and Poloroid
smart TV's have Chromecast built in.
If your TV is not Chromecast or Apple Airplay compatible, you have to
buy the Chromecast Dongle that plugs into the HDMI port of your TV. Then
you can transmit the video from your portable device to the dongle
connected to the TV. Google Chromecast (gen3) starts at $35.00 If you
already have the Apple TV dongle, you're good to go.
The instructions below are from Tom Quinzi on how to do this.
Instructions for using Chromecast to view the STJ livestream on a smart TV:
1) Connect Chromecast device to TV (HDMI connection) per Google instructions (if TV is not already Chromecast capable)
2) Install “Google Home” app on iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Please note that Google does not support this app on computers anymore.
3) Open Google Home app and follow instructions to set up Chromecast device. Please note that you will need a Google account to do this.
4) Once set up, go to Church of St Jerome website on any device, including computers, using Google Chrome browser.
5) Click on Online Streaming at top of page, then select “Live Mass streaming" or “Mass on Demand”. Once livestream is running, click on vertical row of 3 dots in upper right corner of window and select “Cast” option. Select the Chromecast device that you have set up in steps 1-3. It may ask you if you want to optimize the picture, which is helpful.
